If you’ll recall, way back in July of 2009, there was a large explosion at the local condom factory, caused by a glitter truck running a red light… A glittery being came out of the mess in rubbery fabulousness! Baby Kahndom was born, and soon she found herself suckling from the glittery tits of the Sisters (Isabella Ringing, Amore Flagellare and Edith Moorecock). They took her under their veils and filled her with their love and light in the sparkly way each of them could.
Now that glittery being is a full grown Sister. She spreads love, glitter and rubbery condom-goodness throughout the community with a smile (and some lube!). If you see her out, please feel free to walk right up and get a world-class Kahndom hug from her! It’s one of her specialties! And, if you have questions about condoms and their use (that being her other specialty), ask her about that, too! She’ll even give FREE DEMO’s! All YOU have to do is supply the ‘instrument’ and she will take care of you! She is just that kind of a Sister.

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will be gathering on Sunday, May 15th, at 8 pm to observe the 28th annual International AIDS Candlelight Memorial. We will gather at Lifelong AIDS Alliance, and proceed to Cal Anderson park. We invite you to join us at Lifelong, at the park, or along the way, as we remember those who have lost their lives to AIDS-related illnesses, to support those living with HIV and affected by its impact and to encourage greater awareness of the continuing AIDS pandemic.

Brought to you by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence Abbey of St. Joan, Camp Ten Trees, Hard Times, and Nova’s Action Faction, the evening’s celebration-of-all-styles-of-drag includes:
Drag Workshop: 6:00 – 8:30
Featuring local drag kings, drag queens, burlesque/boylesque performers, makeup artists and more sharing their best tips, this workshop will highlight aspects of drag including but not limited to makeup, attitude, style, and presentation.
All ages, suggested $5 donation (no one turned away for lack of funds)
Youth Dance: 8:30 – 11:00
Featuring a drag runway, photo booth, performances, music, food, and more!
Youth-focused (9th grade/15-ish to 20-ish) all-ages dance, suggested $5 donation (no one turned away for lack of funds).
21+ Drag-themed Bucket Run: 8:30 – 11:00 (various locations)
While youth dance the evening away, the 21+ crowd will join Sister-lead teams, and head throughout Capitol Hill to collect donations. Don’t worry, you don’t have to actually run, but there will be a lot of walking. Drag attire strongly encouraged! If you don’t want to participate in the workshop, but still want to join the fun, meet at Stuart Hall at 8:30!

Nobody does it quite like The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, The Abbey of St. Joan. They can sell a roll of raffle tickets or brighten any party faster than you can say one Hail Marry. Larger than life and covered in all their painted glory – these nuns got it going on!
Now, in collaboration with Neighbours Nightclub, the Sisters are bringing their habits – pun intended – to the stage every second Sunday of the month for Sinful 2nd Sunday from 6 – 10 p.m.
The concept behind Sinful 2nd Sunday is one of perpetual fundraising. The show is a great way to have fun and raise money for our grants cycle! Last year, the Abbey awarded over $21,000 to local non-profits. This year, the Sisters hope to raise much more.
Sinful 2nd Sunday is a twist on a regular nightclub cabaret infused with Sister’s flare; there’s a little bit of everything – song, dance, comedy – and a lot of fun!
Here is how it works: Each month, the Sisters pick a different co-beneficiary. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence “2011 Grants Fund” is the main beneficiary and receives the $5 donation at the door. A co-beneficiary is permitted to table at the show, and receives two “commercial” spots where they get to pitch their organization to the audience. In addition, the co-beneficiary can run a raffle with all the proceeds going to them.
Also, each Sinful 2nd Sunday, prize packages are generously donated by Dog House Leather and Channel 1 Releasing!
“Sinful 2nd Sunday is for the community,” says Sister Stella Standing. “It is our wish for people to know there is a new place to go to have fun and make a difference every second Sunday of the month! We love audience participation and there are tons of prizes at every show. Church is in session!”
